British Columbia PNP Updates

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada informed British Columbia on December 18, 2025, that its 2026 Provincial Nominee Program allocation will be limited to 5,254 nominations, significantly lower than the province’s request for 9,000 nominations. This reduction reflects federal authorities’ efforts to adjust permanent residence admissions between 2026 and 2028. Although the allocations may increase in mid-2026, the immediate impact will be fewer invitations across all BC PNP streams and a focus on candidates with strong economic impact. The BC PNP is reviewing how to use this limited allocation and will provide official 2026 priorities soon.

BC PNP 2025 Allocation Exhaustion and Recent Draw

Earlier in December, British Columbia received an additional 960 nominations from the federal government, bringing the total 2025 allocation to 6,214. These nominations are dedicated to healthcare professionals, entrepreneurs, high economic impact candidates, and select international post-graduate applicants. The province will utilize its full allocation by December 31, 2025, with zero capacity left for 2026. A recent high economic impact draw on December 10, 2025, issued 410 invitations to candidates meeting specific criteria, setting high thresholds for future invitations.

Alberta PNP Updates

The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program has reached its full 2025 nomination allocation, starting with 4,875 nominations and receiving an additional 1,728 spots throughout the year, totaling 6,603 nominations.
