Saskatchewan SINP: March 2, 2026 capped-sector intake window is now open

Canadianow- Editor

Saskatchewan has opened its second 2026 intake window for employers submitting Job Approval Forms (JAFs) in SINP capped sectors. This matters if you are an employer trying to support a current worker, or a worker whose work permit expires soon.

A key point many people miss: capped-sector submissions are only accepted during scheduled intake windows, and only for workers who are close to losing status.

Who can submit during this intake?

According to Saskatchewan’s SINP rules, capped sectors are meant to support current employees with valid temporary status, and employers can only submit if the worker has 6 months or less remaining on their work permit.

This intake opened March 2, 2026 at 8:30 a.m. CST (9:30 a.m. Eastern).

Which sectors are capped in 2026?

Saskatchewan lists these capped sectors for 2026 (by NAICS group):

  • Accommodation and Food Services (NAICS 72)

  • Retail (NAICS 44–45)

  • Trucking (NAICS 48–49)

Position limits for the March 2 intake (Window 2)

Saskatchewan’s official SINP Processing Statistics page shows these position limits for the March 2 window:

  • Accommodation and Food Services: 240

  • Retail Trade: 80

  • Trucking: 80

Status can change quickly. As posted on the official table for this window, Accommodation and Food Services and Retail Trade hit their window limits on March 2, while Trucking still showed remaining spots at the time the table was updated.

Internal guidance: If you’re planning to submit for trucking, check the SINP stats page first — the numbers are updated during the intake window and can reach the limit fast.

Next SINP capped-sector intake dates in 2026

Saskatchewan lists the remaining scheduled windows as:

  • May 4, 2026

  • July 6, 2026

  • September 7, 2026

  • November 2, 2026

How the Job Approval process works (quick refresher)

  • A JAF is the employer’s application.

  • If approved, SINP issues a Job Approval Letter (JAL).

  • Each position requested on a JAF counts against the intake window limit.

Reality check

If your sector is capped, timing matters — but an open intake window is not a guarantee of approval or nomination. Caps can fill the same day, and your employer submission still has to meet SINP requirements. If your work permit has more than 6 months left, the application will not be accepted under the capped-sector rule.
