Updated July 2026. Nova Scotia Skilled Worker is one of the province’s four current Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP) streams, prioritizing healthcare and skilled trades occupations for 2026.
Who It’s For
This stream is designed for people already living and working in Nova Scotia on a temporary basis, as well as international applicants with a genuine job offer in the province. For 2026, healthcare and skilled trades occupations at TEER 0 to 4 receive top nomination priority.
Occupations in Demand
Beyond the priority healthcare and trades occupations, the stream also considers TEER 3, 4, or 5 occupations more broadly — for example, nurse aides (NOC 3413) and transport truck drivers (NOC 7511) — though Accommodation and Food Services occupations have been paused.
Key 2026 Change: 12-Month EOI Validity
Effective May 1, 2026, Expressions of Interest (EOIs) submitted to the NSNP are valid for 12 months. If you’re not selected within that window, you’ll need to submit a new EOI rather than remaining indefinitely in the pool.
How to Apply
- Submit an Expression of Interest to the Nova Scotia Nominee Program pool
- If selected, you’ll receive an invitation to apply for a provincial nomination
- Submit your full application with supporting documents within the deadline given
- If nominated, apply to IRCC for permanent residence — your nomination adds 600 CRS points if you’re also in the federal Express Entry pool
