Updated July 2026. Nova Scotia Entrepreneur is one of the province’s four current NSNP streams, aimed at experienced business owners and senior managers who want to buy or start a business in Nova Scotia. It also absorbs the former International Graduate Entrepreneur stream’s sub-criteria.
Financial Requirements
- Net worth: at least $600,000 CAD (or $400,000 CAD if your business will be outside the Halifax Regional Municipality)
- Investment: at least $150,000 CAD (or $100,000 CAD outside the HRM)
Experience Requirements
You need one of the following:
- A minimum of 3 years as a business owner, with at least 33.3% ownership, or
- 5+ years in a senior business management role
How the Process Works
- Submit an Expression of Interest demonstrating your net worth, investment plan, and business/management experience
- If invited, you’ll typically need to visit Nova Scotia to explore business opportunities and confirm your plan
- Submit your full application, including a business plan showing how your investment fits Nova Scotia’s economy
- Once nominated, apply to IRCC for permanent residence

Effective May 1, 2026, EOIs submitted under this stream are valid for 12 months before you’d need to resubmit.
