Updated July 2026. The BC PNP Tech Pilot no longer exists as a standalone stream — it was retired after its final priority technology occupations draw on December 3, 2024. If you’re a tech worker looking to immigrate to British Columbia, here’s how to apply now.
What Changed
There is no longer a separate tech-only invitation round or tech-specific cutoff score. Technology talent is now selected through the general BC Skills Immigration stream, under what BC PNP calls the “Innovate” objective, alongside other in-demand occupations.
How Tech Workers Apply Now
If you work in tech, you apply through BC Skills Immigration like any other skilled worker, with:
- A qualifying job offer from a B.C. employer
- An eligible occupation at TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3
- At least 2 years of directly related work experience within the last 10 years (typical minimum)
- A competitive score under BC’s Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS)
- Minimum CLB 4 in English or French (CLB 5 for some occupations)
- At least a high school diploma, though most competitive applicants hold relevant post-secondary credentials
Job Offer Requirements
Your job offer must be full-time, from an eligible B.C. employer, and last at least 365 days.
What This Means If You Were Targeting the Old Tech Pilot
You haven’t lost your chance — you just apply through the standard BC Skills Immigration process instead of a separate tech-specific draw. Since there’s no dedicated tech cutoff anymore, your competitiveness now depends on your overall SIRS score compared to all BC Skills Immigration candidates, not just other tech applicants.
