Alberta Express Entry Stream 2025 Guide

The Alberta Express Entry Stream is part of the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) that lets Alberta nominate selected candidates from Canada’s federal Express Entry pool for permanent residence. Effective September 30, 2024, you must submit a Worker Expression of Interest (EOI) to be considered. Alberta draws candidates based on EOI score, Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points (minimum 300), and provincial labour priorities such as health care, technology, law enforcement, construction, agriculture and aviation. A provincial nomination adds 600 CRS points to your profile, boosting your chance of an Invitation to Apply (ITA) from IRCC for permanent residence.

Who Can Apply?

To qualify for the Alberta Express Entry Stream, you must:

1. Express Entry Profile

Have an active federal Express Entry profile under the CEC, FSWP or FSTP programs.

2. Eligible Occupation

Your primary NOC must match one of Alberta’s in-demand sectors (e.g., technology, health care, construction, agriculture).

3. CRS Score

Hold at least 300 Comprehensive Ranking System points on your Express Entry profile.

4. Job Offer (if required)

For employer-driven draws, secure a valid full-time, non-seasonal job offer from an Alberta employer.

5. Intent to Reside

Demonstrate a genuine intention to live and work permanently in Alberta.

Meet IRCC’s minimum proof-of-funds requirement—unless you already have Canadian work experience under a valid permit.
