Key facts

  • IRCC holds Express Entry rounds on no fixed schedule; in 2026 there have usually been several a month.
  • Each round is limited to a draw type: a program (CEC, PNP) or a category (French, healthcare, trades and others).
  • You are invited only if you qualify for that draw type and your CRS score is at or above its cut-off.
  • PNP cut-offs look high because they include the 600 nomination points.
  • Ties at the cut-off are broken by the date and time your profile was created.

What CRS score do I need for each type of draw?

It depends on the draw type. In 2026, Canadian Experience Class rounds have needed 507 to 523 points, French-language rounds 382 to 420, healthcare rounds 467 to 475 and trades rounds 476 to 477.

2

How do I read an Express Entry draw?

Each round shows its draw type, the number of invitations and the CRS score of the lowest-ranked candidate invited. If you qualify for that draw type and your score is at or above the cut-off, you would have been invited.

  • The draw type decides who can be invited. A CEC round only invites people eligible for the Canadian Experience Class.
  • The cut-off is the lowest score invited in that round, not a target IRCC sets in advance.
  • When several candidates share the cut-off score, IRCC invites those whose profile was created first, up to a published tie-breaking date and time.
  • Category draws are based on your work experience and language. Check your occupation with the NOC code finder.
Common test trap: PNP draws

A PNP cut-off of 750 does not mean you need 750 points on your own. It means about 150 points plus the 600 from a nomination.

What can I do if my score is below the cut-off?

Raise your score, qualify for a category with lower cut-offs, or look at a provincial nomination, which adds 600 points.

Draw results come from IRCC’s published rounds of invitations. Canadianow is not affiliated with IRCC; always confirm a round on IRCC’s page.

Questions

Express Entry draws FAQ

How often are Express Entry draws held?

There is no fixed schedule. In 2026 IRCC has usually held several rounds a month, often a PNP round followed by a Canadian Experience Class round and category-based rounds.

Why is the CEC cut-off higher than category draws?

Category draws invite a smaller group of eligible candidates, so the lowest score invited can be lower. CEC rounds compete across everyone with Canadian work experience.

What is the tie-breaking rule?

When several candidates have the cut-off score, IRCC invites those who created their Express Entry profile earliest, up to the date and time it publishes with each round.

Is this draw data official?

It is loaded from IRCC’s published rounds data. If IRCC’s file cannot be reached, the page shows a saved copy and says so.
