New Ontario Trillium Benefit Payment To Be Sent On December 10

Updated July 2026. The Ontario Trillium Benefit (OTB) is a non-taxable monthly payment, administered by the CRA on behalf of the province, that combines three separate credits into one deposit for low- and modest-income Ontario residents.

What Makes Up the OTB

  • Ontario Energy and Property Tax Credit (OEPTC): helps offset energy costs and property tax
  • Northern Ontario Energy Credit (NOEC): an additional credit for residents of Northern Ontario
  • Ontario Sales Tax Credit (OSTC): offsets sales tax costs

You might qualify for one, two, or all three, depending on your circumstances — the CRA combines whichever you’re eligible for into a single monthly payment.

2026-27 Benefit Year Amounts (Based on Your 2025 Tax Return)

  • OEPTC: up to roughly $1,309/year for adults 18-64, or roughly $1,490/year for seniors 65+
  • NOEC: up to roughly $189/year for singles, or roughly $291/year for families
  • OSTC: up to $378/year, with an additional $378 available for a spouse or common-law partner

Combined, an eligible family’s total OTB can exceed $2,100 annually. These 2026-27 benefit year payments are based on your 2025 income tax return and are issued monthly starting July 2026, provided your return is assessed in time.

How Payments Work

Your annual entitlement is generally divided by 12 and paid on the 10th of each month. If your total annual entitlement is $360 or less, you’ll typically receive it as a single lump-sum payment instead of monthly installments. To keep receiving payments without interruption, make sure your information with the CRA — address, marital status, and income details — stays current.

Keeping Track of Payment Dates

OTB payments land on the 10th of each month (or the nearest business day). For the exact current schedule and to confirm your specific entitlement amount, check your CRA My Account or the CRA’s official OTB information page — amounts and thresholds are indexed annually, so the figures above apply specifically to the 2026-27 benefit year.
