Why do benefits arrive on different days?
Each program has its own rule. The CRA pays the CCB on the 20th and the Ontario Trillium Benefit on the 10th; Service Canada pays CPP and OAS near the end of the month and the Canada Disability Benefit on the third Thursday.

Why do I have to file taxes to get these payments?
Most of these benefits are calculated from your tax return, and from your spouse’s if you have one. If a return is missing, the CRA cannot calculate the amount and payments stop.
July is when amounts change
The CCB, the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit and the Ontario Trillium Benefit are recalculated every July from the previous year’s returns.

What should I do if a payment does not arrive?
Wait 5 to 10 business days, then check your direct deposit details and address in CRA My Account or My Service Canada Account, and confirm your latest return was assessed.

Direct deposit arrives on the payment date. Cheques can take several more days by mail.

When are CRA benefits paid?
Each benefit has its own day: the CCB around the 20th, the Ontario Trillium Benefit around the 10th, CPP and OAS in the last week of the month, and the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit four times a year.
Why are December payments early?
Several payments move earlier in December because of the holidays. In 2026 the CCB is paid on December 11 and CPP and OAS on December 22.
Are the 2027 dates out yet?
Not when we checked on October 17, 2026. The CRA and Service Canada usually publish the next year’s calendar late in the year; this page will add them then.
How long should I wait if a payment is missing?
Service Canada asks you to wait 5 to 10 business days after the payment date before contacting the program.
