Updated July 2026. March 2026 brought several federal and provincial benefit payments to Canadians, spread across the month based on each program’s own schedule. Here’s the full lineup, who qualifies, and how much each one was worth.
Ontario Trillium Benefit — March 10
The OTB combines three credits — the Ontario Energy and Property Tax Credit, the Northern Ontario Energy Credit, and the Ontario Sales Tax Credit — into one monthly payment for low- to moderate-income Ontario residents, administered by the CRA even though it’s a provincial benefit.
- Ages 18-64: up to $106.91/month ($1,283/year)
- Ages 65+: up to $121.75/month ($1,461/year)
- On reserve or in a long-term care home: up to $285/year
March 2026 payments were based on your 2024 tax return; amounts recalculate in July 2026 using 2025 income.
Canada Disability Benefit — March 19
Launched in July 2025, this is a newer federal support program for working-age adults (18-64) with disabilities. You need a valid Disability Tax Credit certificate and income under the program’s thresholds. The maximum is $200/month, reduced for higher-income recipients. If your annual entitlement works out to under $240, Service Canada pays it as a single lump sum instead of monthly installments.
Canada Child Benefit — March 20
Tax-free monthly payments for families raising children under 18, based on your 2024 return for the 2025-26 benefit year (new rates based on 2025 income start July 2026). For families with adjusted net income under $37,487:
- Children under 6: up to $666.41/month ($7,997/year)
- Children 6-17: up to $562.33/month ($6,748/year)
The Child Disability Benefit adds up to $284.25/month for children eligible for the Disability Tax Credit. Payments phase out gradually above the income threshold.
BC Family Benefit — March 20
Paid alongside the CCB for British Columbia families with children under 18, using the same adjusted net income and child-count eligibility framework as the federal benefit.
CPP and OAS — March 27
Canada Pension Plan and Old Age Security payments both land on the same date each month. March 27 was the third CPP/OAS payment of 2026’s monthly schedule.
ODSP — March 31 (Ontario)
Ontario Disability Support Program payments follow their own provincial schedule, landing near month-end.
Filing Your Taxes Matters
Every benefit on this list depends on your most recent tax return being filed and up to date — CRA and Service Canada use that information to calculate and deliver your payment automatically. If a payment doesn’t arrive on schedule, wait 5-10 business days before contacting the program, since direct deposit and mailed cheques can lag slightly.
